Shihmen is built in the middle part of Da Han River, and the name was given for the shape of two stone pillars at the entrance of the brook, and the two faces to each other in symmetrical form. The reservoir has crossed two counties named Da Hsie and Lun Tan where has breathtaking scenery nearby. Tourism spots have gathered mostly near the dam. This dam is located in the middle part of Da Han river, and the height is amount to 133 meters. There are six gates exist in the path of water outlet. And there are also several constructions being built as storing pool, surrounding road, and power plant. This structure has become the biggest water facility. There are abundant touring spots near to the reservoir. At the end of surrounding road, you could appreciate the whole view of the dam. Tourists could take touring ships nearby the lake. Besides, you could camp in camping sites located near to the lake. The big dam is the most famous formidable touring spot in Shihmen. The height of this structure is amount to 133 meters, which is the biggest soil-blocking in the island. It has attracted thousands of tourists at the time there were activities held near by the big dam. Green shadows cast by trees has veiled the road surrounding the lake. It is a well-protected forest, which could provide shelters and abundant food to those wild animals. Through the big dam, there is on memorial stone set at the crossed river side. Moreover, cabin in woods, and the garden of plumb trees have also become famous touring sites. Beside the path in maple woods, there are more than 3000 trees up to one thousand year. Here is a good place to view the beautiful scene of maple. In the later time of fall, maples turn to red, and dissolve into those beautiful scenes of mountains and lake. In order to develop touring industry, tourism agencies have held several activities in providing services such as meals and habitat. In addition, fresh fish has become another attracting factor in Shihmen.
